Melanie Judge is Adjunct Associate Professor of Public Law at the University of Cape Town and Senior Policy Advisor to the United Nation Development Programme on LGBTI Inclusion in Africa. Melanie is an indepedent consultant and holds a PhD in Women’s and Gender Studies. She is author of ‘Blackwashing Homophobia: Violence and the Politics of Sexuality, Gender and Race’ (Routledge, 2018) and lead editor of ‘To Have and To Hold: The Making of Same-sex Marriage in South Africa’ (Jacana, 2006). She is a queer and feminist activist and scholar.
