Building on the prior PAL country studies, the Topical Laboratory has broken new ground in research on autocratic legalism by conducting a broad survey on manifestations of this phenomenon across countries and themes.

A call for proposals was issued in 2022, which led to the selection of over 60 potential contributions.

PAL organizers hope to draw from these contributions to produce a handbook on autocratic legalism.

Authors will present their first chapter drafts in the summer of 2023 and several discussion sessions will be held in the academic year 2023-24 to facilitate the completion of the drafts and the preparation of the manuscript.
