Natasza Quelvennec

European Center for Sociology and Political Science

Natasza is a French-Polish political sociologist and researcher specializing in gender studies, social movements, and the sociology of religion. She is a doctoral researcher at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS) in Paris and a member of the European Centre for Sociology and Political Science (CESSP). She completed her studies at EHESS and has furthered her academic focus as an affiliated graduate scholar at the University of Michigan’s Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia.

Her empirical scholarship explores how reproductive rights, gender policies, and religious frameworks intersect during periods of democratic volatility. Her dissertation comprehensively analyzes the politicization of abortion and gender in post-socialist Poland, mapping the ongoing tensions between feminist organizations and conservative coalitions. Her recent peer-reviewed work, including studies published in Revue d’études comparatives Est-Ouest (RECEO), investigates the strategic alliances formed between conservative political parties and anti-gender movements. This research tracks how transnational and national non-governmental organizations cultivate specialized expert networks to contest liberal legal norms and shape policy during Poland’s contemporary illiberal turn. Beyond her written scholarship, she regularly participates in public interest dialogues and European policy conferences addressing reproductive rights and civil liberties.
